MERCER COUNTY
Chloe Lowry Marsh
Conservation Area is near Princeton. Go 2 miles north on Road FF, then 2 miles on
a gravel road that leads to Lowry Memorial Airport. This 93-acre Designated Natural Area
is past the airport where the road becomes a dead end. There are several species of rare
plants found here, including tufted loosestrife and marsh skullcap, which are not found
anywhere else in the state. A .5-mile hiking trail (an old railroad bed) runs through the
area.
Lake Paho Conservation Area
(1,782 acres) is 4 miles west of Princeton on Highway 136. There are 50 ponds in the area
that-together with Lake Paho-provide anglers with 283 acres of fishable water. There are
two boat ramps, one wheelchair accessible fishing jetty, 50 camping pads and about 5 miles
of field roads available to hikers. Interpretive programs and demonstration sites are
open, and tours of the area's catfish rearing facility are available upon request.
