ANDREW COUNTY
Tom Brown Access is 3 miles
west of Amazonia off Highway T. This is a 7.5-acre area on the Missouri River with no boat
ramp.
James D. Christie Conservation Area
and Eva Neely Davis Memorial Conservation Area are off Highway 48, 1.5
miles northeast of Rosendale. The 204-acre areas are made up equally of forestland,
cropland and old fields. There are three ponds with 3 total acres suitable for fishing.
Elrod Mill Access
on the Platte River is 2 miles west of Union Star, 3 miles north on Highway M, then 4
miles west on a gravel road. There are two accesses on the river in the 57-acre area,
though there are no boat ramps.
Hadorn Bridge Access
is 4 miles north of Savannah off Highway C. The 102 River extends for nearly a mile along
the 93-acre area. There are three accesses, but no boat ramps.
Happy Holler Conservation
Area is composed of two tracts. The main entrance is 1 mile northeast of Savannah
of Highway D. Within the 1,820-acre area, there are five accesses on the 102 River. In
addition to the river, two ponds provide 5 acres of fishable water.
To reach Honey Creek Conservation Area,
take the Fillmore exit (exit 65) off I-29. The 1,1448-acre area is then 1.5 miles south on
Road RA. It is primarily forested and has three accesses on the Nodaway River and four
ponds. There is one trail .75 mile long.
Midway Access is 1
mile west of Bolckow on Highway B, just where the highway crosses the 102 River. It
consists of 1 acre and has no boat ramp.
Nodaway Island Access
is south of I-29. From the Amozonia exit (exit 60), go 2 miles south on Highway K, then
turn north on Highway T. The access extends 400 feet along the Missouri River beside
Highway T. The 6 acres surrounding the river access is mainly pasture. There is a boat
ramp.
The main entrance to Nodaway Valley
Conservation Area is 8 miles north of Highway 59 on Highway B in Holt County. Two
hundred acres of this 3,813-acre area is wetlands, and the rest mainly cropland. The
Nodaway River and two ponds provide 42 acres of fishable water.
Rochester Falls Access
is about 20 miles northeast of St. Joseph on Highway 169. The 14-acre area has three
accesses on the Platte River. The land is mainly pasture and extends .25 mile along the
river.
Rock Quarry Access
is 2 miles north of St. Joseph off Highway 71. From Highway 71, take the gravel road
marked with an area sign 1.5 miles. When this road comes to a T-intersection, turn .25
mile left to reach the 9-acre access. This area has a boat ramp on the 102 River.
Savannah City Lake
is reached by following signs from Highway 71 north of Savannah. This 22-acre reservoir
has a boat ramp and offers good catfish, l bass and bluegill fishing.
Worthwine Island
Conservation Area is on Highway K, 5 miles south of I-29 (Amazonia exit). Two and
three-quarter miles of the Missouri River flows through this 430-acre area. There are
three accesses on the river and a 2.5-mile hiking trail.
