Congrats to Week #3 Weekend Wizards! |
Stand back, guys. This week’s best predictions came from Angie Bonderer of Chillicothe. She only missed one game -- the Villanova overtime win over St. John’s. Angie correctly picked MU to top Baylor at Waco and stands alone at the top of this week’s slate of Weekend Wizards: Angie Bonderer, Chillicothe; Corey Green, Jamesport; Ched Hurley, Trenton; Neal Steward, Cameron; Michael Beck, Gallatin.

Former Sheriff Recalled As One Who Knew His People |
Editor’s Note: The following story appeared in The Missouri Sheriff magazine and was written by former Trenton resident Mary Jo Hoffman, who owned the Grundy County Gazette in the 1940s. The story focuses on Henry Smith, who served as Grundy County Sheriff from 1945 to 1952.
by Jo Hoffman
Back in the late ‘40s, I bought a weekly newspaper in Grundy County, Missouri at which time I met the county sheriff, Henry Smith. He was not an imposing figure - medium height, a little overweight perhaps, not very talkative. But he was the coolest, bravest man I’ve ever run into.
